I have been thinking about how to make it easier for the people I am teaching to quilt, here is what I have. Take the backing and fold it into quarters, fold in half length wise and fold in half width wise. This will give you 4 sections with an x in the middle. Fold your batting in the same manner. Stick a pin in the center of the x on both layers. Now take your first square and fold it the same way, line up all 3 x's. This should give you the center of your quilt.

Take a ruler and you pencil/ water soluble marker and draw a line 1/4 inch away from the edge. Don't quilt in this area. Quilt your center square. Now, lets get the next square and lay it on top of the square you just quilted, right sides facing each other and sew along the 1/4 inch seam of one of your sides. Press this piece outward so you can see the top and pin into place. Draw your seam allowance so you don't quilt in the joining area. You may now quilt the 1st square to the new square, being careful no not quilt in the new joining area.

Shower Curtain Rings

Continue to add squares in this manner. The next section you will add will have 2 squares sewn together before you join them to the quilt. You are working outward to the edges. I have also found a easy way to hold your batting and backing out of the way, a bit. Dollar store shower curtain holder wrings. I roll up my backing and batting into a tube shape and place the rings over the tube to hold it into place. You will only be quilting on one side at a time. I will be making a video as soon an my camera man wakes up, he worked all night.

Talk to you soon.
