This is my first blog post. Blogs are a great way to connect with your friends and family to let them know what going on. I love sharing the process of my creating here, so you can follow along. I will be adding tutorials and contest in the near future.

Now let's get to the quilt talk, I must also tell you I am a avid knitter and it might slip in from time to time, hope you won't mind. Quilting is a right of passage for me , from my grandmother to myself, I remember sitting at her feet while she worked on the quilts that would keep us warm. Things have changed, in the way we quilt now days and I for one am happy to be able to get a quilt done in a reasonable amount of time. Granny if you are watching it a sign of the times and I still hand quilt from time to time, so we can be close.

Upon doing some research, I found that more often than not, baby quilts are looking like a smaller version of the adult quilts we love to snuggle up with. The pieces may be the same of they my have been shrunk to make a mini me quilt. I love the idea of the mini me quilts, not everyone is into bunny rabbits and duckiest on quilts, nothing wrong with either of these styles. Just think about it, your baby covered up in a quilt that he/she can us as they get a little older. The quilt may even get passed back to you at some point to use as a lap quilt, or on to the next generation of new quilt users.

Now lets talk about the new quilter and a good place to start is a baby quilt/lap quilt. It is a trying thing as a new quilter to work all the fabric and batting into the right position to be quilted. You as a new quilter can do it, I am sure you can,I in no way want to discourage you so if you want a king size quilt go for it. There are many quilter out in the world that will always lend a helping hand, me for one, just ask.

Starting out on a baby/lap quilt is easier to manage in not only time but space. You don't have a new baby and neither do any of your friends, well there might come a time when a small quilt made by your hands will be exactly the right gift. You might love it so much you want to start a business, go to some flea market sales, make so extra money on the side.

I will leave you with this, because if you don't stop me I'll talk forever, a quilt is like a warm hug and it's nice to give hugs and get hugs.
